Already many members of the Options Disability Support family have formulated an NDIS plan that best suits their needs and goals. It’s no wonder that, for many participants, high on their list are the huge selection of fun and engaging recreation activities on offer throughout the year.

SO MANY WAYS TO HAVE FUN WITH FRIENDS

This year already participants in the Recreation Program have taken part in a huge variety of entertainment, sensory and physical activities, but if what you want to experience is not on our list, tell us and we can explore it.

Wining and Dining

Earlier this year participants experienced the thrill (and mess!) of Japanese Teppanyaki dining in Gosford. After a fun night of food and laughter the group stumbled across a Bluegrass band and decided to stick around for a dance.  Whether it’s a BBQ or picnic, restaurant meal or meat pie, there’s always smiles when there’s food around – and who knows where it could take you!

Satisfying the Senses

In recent months recreation participants experienced the beauty of snow for the first time at the Hunter Valley Gardens, the thrill of being at an NRL game cheering the Knights in Newcastle and the joy of singing along at the We Will Rock You concert in Sydney.

These varied sensory experiences have been great opportunities to spend quality time with friends, have fun, and create lasting memories.

Physical Challenges

Sporting activities are always popular so this year has seen Options Disability Support participants go horse riding, try Archery, explore Sydney’s history on a Walking Tour, Pedal Power bike riding and even train to be Jedis. By getting out and about our members enjoy a healthy lifestyle and the pride of participating in new challenges.

The fun doesn’t stop there

Our keen participants have so many great activities to look forward to in the second half of 2016 including:

  • An AFL game
  • Paddington Markets
  • Bubble Soccer
  • Exploring Cockatoo Island
  • Tree Tops Adventure Park
  • Thirlmere Trainworks

If these kinds of activities sound exciting to you, make recreation a part of the conversation when talking with your NDIS planner.  Whether it’s for a few hours, entire day, or full weekend the next fun filled excursion with friends is never far away.
